Established in 2011 for the Scottish market our agency was developed to provide a very individual service in the sale and acquisition of commercial restaurants and food related businesses.
The agency is led by Alan Goldie, an individual with proven market knowledge in the restaurant and catering fields throughout Scotland for many years. Having nurtured many business relationships for over 25 years within the industry he recognised the need for a dedicated restaurant agency to cater for the nuances of the trade and its very specific requirements.
Each business is personally inspected and can therefore be discussed in greater detail with registered prospective purchasers.
Offering both a sale and acquisition services allows new or existing operators a rare opportunity to tap into respected sector specific knowledge of the Scottish restaurant market to assist securing the property of their choice.
This is a truly independent company with the objective to provide a genuine uncomplicated but effective sales and acquisition service to the restaurant and catering markets in Scotland.
...and just in case we have never met, don't take it from us...
"Before finding The Restaurant Agency we approached one of the larger companies. We were alarmed at how predatory and impersonal the process was. We felt they had onlytheir own interests at heart. To get you on and off the books as quickly as possible was how it felt. Then we found Alan Goldie and discovered an ethical business partner we could trust. He guided us gently through the emotional turmoil of finding a suitable tenant for our restaurant and in this he excelled."
Geoff and Kate Ness (formerly of) Katie's Diner, Edinburgh - March 2017
"This was the first time I have sold a business using an agent, but I found Alan's approach very refreshing. He has a very sensible take on valuations and a clear understanding of the market, not to mention his extensive list of contacts. Within a few weeks and with very little additional advertising we had 3 offers above the asking price."
Alastair Clark, Caffeine, Edinburgh September 2016
"Alan was recommended to us by our accountants and we are very grateful they did. From day one to the conclusion of the sale of our business he was professional, meticulous, and hard working on our behalf. We have no hesitation in strongly recommending The Restaurant Agency to anyone who is considering selling or buying a business. Alan is highly knowledgeable and experienced and such an approachable individual. It was a joy to work with him."
Jacquie Lowden and Annette Knight, The Flat Cat Gallery and Coffee Shop, Lauder June 2016
"I cannot recommend Alan more highly if you are thinking of marketing your business. His level of knowledge and professionalism is truly outstanding and was constantly in touch regarding any questions, problems and updating progress of the two sales, even whilst on holiday! Having considered other agencies I can say I thankfully could not have made a better choice in appointing Alan."
Nigel Adams, Buffalo Grills, Stockbridge and Newington, Edinburgh September 2015
"If you are browsing this website and wondering whether to employ Alan to help you sell your business - stop wondering and engage him. He knows his subject and if conflicts arise he will stand by you and advise you . If the going gets tough the tough get going and he is always there to help and, if necessary, take the tension out of the situation. His level headed calmness was an absolute godsend. He got me through some very difficult moments and I came out smiling instead of a total wreck! I cannot recommend him highly enough."

Further to this, Alan truly made himself available to us throughout and was always happy to advise and direct us, whether it was on the legal process or simply to reassure we'd get there together. And that's how it felt: we got there together. A thoroughly personal and professional service"

"In this market sector it's all about who you know, as that is what buys and sells properties and leases. Alan's connections and knowledge of the restaurant industry reflects his expertise and years in the commercial property market. He tells you as it is, provides a concise summary of the market and likely opportunities, and more importantly, does what he says he's going to do! If you're looking for help and advice, give him a call!"
